History Of Collecting Art
EA Studios was founded by Galal Helmy in 1973 in beautiful Jasper, Alberta. Our art gallery is family-owned and operated and strives to connect art collectors with beautiful Canadian art pieces from our private collection.
Our studio has always been focused on Indigenous art and artifact pieces, and we're happy to share our vast Indigenous art collection with you.
Galal Helmy owned the Maligne Canyon Tea House and operated EA Studios primarily out of this location between 1978 and 2018, where many pieces of our collection had been displayed over the years.
EA Studios is a trusted Canadian art dealer in the Jasper area, and we're excited to bring our studio to the Calgary art community.

Our studio has always been a patron of the arts. This also includes sponsoring artists, including notable Canadian artists like Norval Morrisseau and David Wong. Because of this, we are home to the largest collection of authentic Norval Morrisseau and David Wong work.
All the Morrisseau's in our collection were painted while he lived in Helmy's lodge. EA Studios sponsored Morrisseau throughout the 80s, and during this time, he lived at the teahouse periodically throughout the year.
